The event honored a selection of local companies that recruit and retain the best and brightest employees. Trustar Bank was elated to make the list for the second year in a row. 2022 Leukemia Ball Presented by Trustar Bank June 18, 2022

Celebrating more than three decades as one of the Washington, D.C. area’s most widely recognized and revered charity events, the Leukemia Ball is scheduled for Saturday, June 18, 2022. Taking place at the Marriott Marquis Washington D.C., this event is dedicated to raising money for life-saving cancer research and patient programs funded by The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). Trustar Bank is honored to be the Presenting Sponsor of the event this year.


NOVA Women’s Business Leaders Roundtable with Governor Glenn Youngkin March 14, 2022

Trustar Bank was grateful to host the NOVA Women’s Business Leaders Roundtable led by Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin and First Lady Suzanne Youngkin this morning! Female business leaders from all over the area gathered to share stories, challenges, and celebrate each other’s successes in business. Trustar Bank CEO Shaza Andersen was honored at the event, sharing some of her unique story as a female business leader. It was fantastic to see so many local women in business come together and engage in important conversations with our Governor. Thank you to all who attended!

WTEF Book Donation February 2022

Members of our team, representing Trustar Youth Foundation, were honored to deliver bundles of children’s books and a check donation to Washington Tennis & Education Foundation (WTEF) at their DC facility. The books will stock the Little Free Library bookcase outside their building, providing a variety of reading material for years to come!

Shaza Andersen Named March of Dimes 2021 Heroines of Washington Winner                                               ­­­

Washington, D.C. (November 19, 2021) — Trustar is proud to announce that Shaza Andersen was honored for her years of volunteer work and service to the community as a Heroine of Washington by March of Dimes at the organization’s annual awards gala November 16th at The Ritz-Carlton in Tysons. March of Dimes, whose mission is to lead the fight for the health of all moms and babies, has honored 135 women since 2001.

Shaza was joined by eight other award recipients at the awards ceremony including: Carly Mitchell of Guidehouse, Julia Fantacone of Altarum, Kerry Ann Hamilton of KAH Consulting, Nancy Bossard of Long and Foster, Mary Kinnard Brown of The MITRE Corporation, Lydia Russo of Lydia Real Estate, Michele Colos, CEO of NT Concepts, and Dr. Sandy Chung, CEO of Health Connect IPA

In addition to the awards presentation, the evening included a cocktail reception, dinner and silent auction. Proceeds from the event will support local March of Dimes programs including research, education, and advocacy so that every family can have the best possible start. Heroines of Washington has raised over $3.8 million to support the March of Dimes mission to improve the health of babies. NBC4 and Telemundo 44 Food 4 Families November 2021

Together with NBC4 and Telemundo 44, Trustar Bank is once again giving back to families, veterans, and seniors in need this Thanksgiving. The Food 4 Families campaign provides complete Thanksgiving meals to the members of our community who need them the most. The campaign has had a great start already with a donation of 5,000 turkeys from Shady Brook Farms and 4,000 supermarket gift cards from Washington Gas Charitable Giving. Funds are still needed and every dollar donated by you will enable us to help even more of our neighbors. All funds raised will go directly to supplying delicious Thanksgiving meals. NATIONAL POLICE WEEK May 2021

Trustar Bank is proud to participate in National Police Week, which will take place the week of May 9-15, 2021. The Bank’s donation will help support initiatives during the week of virtual festivities, culminating in a day of remembrance and an online candlelight vigil. This special week allows law enforcement, survivors, and citizens to gather and pay homage to those who gave their lives in the line of duty.

NBC 4 and Telemundo 44 Food 4 Families November 2020

Together with NBC4 and Telemundo 44, Trustar Bank is giving back to families, veterans, and seniors in need. The Food 4 Families campaign provides complete Thanksgiving meals to the members of our community who need them the most. Thanks to several wonderful donors, this year’s goal of $85,000 was surpassed, and the funds will go directly to supplying delicious Thanksgiving meals. Thank you for helping us provide special memories for these individuals that will last a lifetime!

Trustar Bank Donates Portion of SBA Paycheck Protection Program Fees to Local Organizations

As a registered lender with the Small Business Administration (SBA), Trustar Bank has utilized the SBA’s CARES Act Paycheck Protection ​Program (PPP) to provide capital to small businesses, helping them meet their ongoing short-term expenses. The CARES Act, which was signed into law on March 27, 2020, provides banks with an opportunity to assist businesses in need.

In the span of just one week, Trustar Bank has provided over 200 loans to local businesses struggling during the COVID-19 pandemic. As a community bank, Trustar takes great pride in supporting local organizations and important causes. The Bank is happy to announce that they will be donating 10% of PPP processing fees to local organizations, such as the Inova Health Foundation and Washington Nationals Philanthropies. Through efforts like this, Trustar Bank hopes to provide a bit of extra relief to those struggling during these difficult economic times.

“We felt privileged to participate in the SBA’s Paycheck Protection Program (PPP), support the stabilization of the US Economy and help working families in Greater Washington. As a community bank, Trustar Bank understands and values the role that community banks play across this great country,” said Trustar Bank CEO, Shaza Andersen, “To help even further, we are donating 10% of our loan fees from the PPP Program to Inova Health Foundation and the Washington Nationals Philanthropies. Trustar board members, employees, and customers collected non-perishable food items and monetary donations in order to help provide Thanksgiving meals for families, veterans, and seniors. On November 21, 2019, the Bank presented NBC4 with all that had been collected. We would like to extend a special thank you to everyone who donated!
